War Service

Ernest enlisted in July 1916 and embarked from Fremantle aboard the HMAT Argyllshire A8 on the 9th November 1916 and arrived n Devonport in January 1917. The unit was sent to northern France in April and Ernest joined the rest of the 16th Battalion who were undertaking training in Ribemont. By July they were sent to the front lines in Belgium and Ernest was killed in action on June 30th 1917.
