About Harold de Causey Caporn
Harold was born in Roebourne, Western Australia on the 1st Feb 1894. He was the son of Henry & Clara Caporn. His father was a carrier in the Roebourne district.
Broome Connection
Harold was living in Broome and working as a baker when he enlisted for World War One. The mayor of Broome, Walter Clarke-Hall signed his attestation paper and his medical was performed in Broome by district medical officer Smythe-Yule.
War Service
Harold enlisted in February 1915 and was assigned to the 10th Light Horse, 6th Regiment. Four months after enlisting, the unit embarked from Fremantle per the Karoola. The Regiment left their horses in Egypt, and Harold joined the rest of the unit on the 2nd October 1915, Harold was shot and killed while on patrol only 13 days after arriving in Gallipoli.
