parents david and jane<\/strong> withers of Broome Brother to miss elizabeth withers in Broome. also listed captain goldie as reference on red cross roll.<\/p>\n Ernest enlisted in July 1916 and embarked from Fremantle aboard the HMAT Argyllshire A8 <\/em>on the 9th November 1916 and arrived n Devonport in January 1917. The unit was sent to northern France in April and Ernest joined the rest of the 16th Battalion who were undertaking training in Ribemont.
