I left the Peninsula just before the evacuation with malaria. Walter and I are in the same tent at the base. The Broomites had a reunion at Cairo on Dec 30, in the Metropole Hotel. We had a very nice dinner and a general wongi about Broome. Am enclosing an autograph menu card. Not all the names of those present are on it \u2014 there were about 35 present. Yank Free promoted the gathering. We had five lieutenants present (Hugh Macdonald, Bardwell, J. Tolmer, Hart, and Scotland), also two D.C.M.’s, Corp. Macnee and Sergt.
